Notice:
Since our retirement, we no longer live in the Phoenix metro
area, I am no longer conducting AZ CCW training. Much of the
information on this page is seriously out of date, and there have been
significant changes in Arizona's CCW legislation, regulations and
rules. I'm leaving this page intact, as some of the links may be
of value. Should you wish to contact me, please use the "send
e-mail to paul" link on my main page. Thank you.

The Concealed Weapon Permit Course meets the requirements of ARS
13-3112.
The course and instructors are approved by Arizona Dept. of Public
Safety,
which issues CCW permits.
DPS is required to issue a permit to any person who meets
certain
minimum eligibility requirements. You must be 21 or older and
successfully
complete an approved training course. CCW permits are valid for 4
years,
and can be renewed by completing a 4-hour refresher course.
Details
of the law are available here.
Felons and prohibited possessors under state or federal law are not
eligible to receive a permit.
Some folks who wish to take basic firearm safety and the
related
legal and personal protection instruction, who are not otherwise
eligible,
for example a minor, are welcome to take our courses. Completion of a
CCW
class does not require that you apply for a permit.
Course fees include all necessary instructional materials. You will
also need a gun with 100 rounds of the appropriate ammunition and
hearing
and eye protection. Ammo is available for sale, and hearing and eye
protection
is available for sale or loan. Loaner guns are also available by prior
arrangement.
Upon completion, you will receive the complete application
package
certified by WTA, including required fingerprinting. You may apply for
your Arizona CCW permit within 6 months of completing the course. DPS
charges
a fee of $50 to process your application.
- You do not need to be an Arizona resident to receive a permit.
Non-US citizens,
legally resident in Arizona are also eligible with certain restrictions.
All classes require pre-registration, some classes have minimum
sizes.
Please call for details, or for other available courses, dates and
locations,
or e-mail Paul Nixon.
